Superstar Rajinikanth fails to keep ₹1 crore promise

Synopsis

In an interview with a daily newspaper, Ayyakannu, a representative of farmers said "Rajinikanth pledged to help us with ₹1 crore during the 2002 Cauvery river water dispute. The money was meant to help the government inter-link rivers. But even after 14 years, Rajinikanth has not made any contribution."

During the 2002 Cauvery dispute, many Tamil actors chose to stage a rally against the Karnataka government on the 13th of October.

Ayyakannu has claimed that Rajini met the then Governor and made a commitment that he would contribute money, which would be helpful in inter-linking rivers.

As the Kabali star has not made the offering so far, an organisation named 'Desiya Thenmaanila Nadhigal Inaippu Vivasaayigal Sangam', which is supervised by Ayyakannu, has threatened to do a dharma.
