Sridevi lost out on Baahubali due to her high fees?

Synopsis

Baahubali team is celebrating its success, becoming the first Indian movie to rake in Rs 1000 crore worldwide. Sridevi was interested in doing the role of Sivagami, but she reportedly rejected the role. But she is not far from the big screen. Sridevi will be next seen in the thriller 'Mom'.

The Baahubali team is busy celebrating its success, after becoming the first Indian movie to rake in Rs 1000 crore worldwide. All the characters are getting praised by critics and audiences. Ramya Krishnan’s performance in Baahubali 1 and 2 as Rajamata Sivagami Devi was the most powerful of them all, and we can't imagine any other actress playing the role.

However, Ramya was not the original pick of director SS Rajamouli. Bollywood actress Sridevi was apparently the first choice of the filmmakers. Unfortunately, she turned down the franchise, which has now proved to be the biggest hit in the history of Indian cinema.

According to the Times Of India, Sridevi was interested in doing the role of Sivagami, but she declined to come on board as the filmmakers were not ready to meet her pay demands. The actor had reportedly demanded a whopping Rs 6 crore for the job. Later, Ramya was roped in by filmmakers rather. In the reports, Ramya allegedly charged Rs 2.5 crore. Well, someone’s loss is someone else's gain.

During a promotional event in Chennai last month, the director regretted not approaching Ramya first for the role.

SS Rajamouli said, “I don’t know what went into my head when I considered other heroines for Sivagami role. I feel ashamed I did that.”

Meanwhile, Sridevi will be next seen in a thriller Mom. The movie also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna in lead roles. The first look of the film has left many fascinated, especially the fact that Nawazuddin is almost unrecognisable.
