Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) President Mohanlal came under heavy criticism for re-inducting actor Dileep into the film body. Several political leaders, celebrities and fans had joined together to slam the decision and protest against it. Today (June 30), Mohanlal has found support from Mammootty’s fans.
After taking over as AMMA President, Mohanlal and his team, in their first meeting, announced that Dileep will be back in the association. However, Dileep said it would not be an active member of any association till he proves his innocence.
Actor Dileep was expelled from AMMA in July 2017 following his arrest on charges of conspiracy in abduction and physical assault of an actress in February 2017. He was later released on bail.
AMMA’s move to take back Dileep into the fold triggered widespread protests in Kerala. Effigies of Mohanlal were burnt by political parties yesterday (June 29).
In times of criticism, Mammootty’s fans have decided to throw their weight behind Mohanlal. On Saturday (June 30), in Kochi, Mammootty’s fans held posters of support for Mohanlal.
Members of various political parties had gathered at Savita theatre in Kochi and protested against AMMA’s move on Dileep.
But, now fans associations said that it was not right for political parties to hunt down a single person.
Mohanlal and Mammootty fans displayed posters of support with -#WesupportMohanlal.
