Why is Vijay’s 'Ghilli' trending after 12 years?

Synopsis

If you think only that which is happening currently trends on social media platforms, you are wrong. At least regarding Kollywood, where even a movie made in 2004 can trend today in 2016.

It all began when fans of Tamil actor Thala Ajith mocked actor Vijay and his movies during the latter’s birthday. They managed to trend the mockery on Twitter all day long. Not ones to take such insults lightly, Vijay’s fans are now hitting back.

Vijay fans created a twitter tag #WeekendWithBlockBusterGHILLI, and that rather lengthy and awkward tag has been trending for most of the day today. The occasion: The 2004-made Vijay-starrer Ghilli is being telecasted on Sun TV.

Ilayathalapathy’s fans (or possibly Sun TV) have left no stone unturned to make the hashtag trend.

Well, at least they have picked a decent enough movie. The movie was a superhit when it released and claims to have the longest 'chase sequence' in Kollywood. Ghilli also stars the popular Trisha opposite Vijay.

Clearly, Vijay has some star power if a decade-old movie of his moves his fans to such an extent.
