It's raining mega movies in Mollywood. After ₹ 25-crore Pulimurgan, now it is the turn of Veeram, produced at a whopping ₹ 35 crores, to hit screens.

After releasing the trailer of Veeram, Director Jayaraj expressed  confidence that the movie would turn out to be the first Malayalam film to enter the 100-crore club.

Making veiled attack on superstars, the versatile director said, "there is a belief that it's the superstars who determine the success of a movie. But in fact, it's the technical perfection that makes the film a crowd puller,"  Jayaraj told Manorama News. The movie has at least ₹ 20 crores spent on technical aspect alone.

Veeram, the epic drama is the latest in a series of movies based on 'Navarasas' or nine human emotions. Inspired by William Shakespeare’s play  Macbeth,  the film narrates the story of Chandhu, a legendary warrior in Malayalam folklore.

Veeram has stunt choreographer Allan Popleton and music director Jeff Rona from Hollywood and Jayaraj has brought in Academy Award winning makeup artist Trefor Proud and colourist Jeff Olm.

Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor will portray Chandu along with Sivajith Nambiar, who will play Aromal. The character of Unniarcha will be performed by Himarsha.
