The Premam actor married Rinna on August 28, 2010, in a traditional Christian wedding ceremony. The couple is blessed with a son named Daveed.
The couple were the best friends since college and eventually fell in love with each other.
Nivin had earlier spoken about his childhood sweetheart and had said: "I was the backbencher boy of my class who fell in love with the most studious girl of his class."
Later he said, "He has stated that Rinna was his pillar of strength during the struggle period after he quit the job for cinema."
