Ilaiyaraaja turns 73; celebs wish the legend on his birthday

Tamil music director Ilaiyaraaja is someone who has given music in 1000 films. Ilayaraja did it two years ago. Ilayaraja, also spelt as Ilaiyaraaja, is turning a year older on 2nd June, as he celebrates his 73nd birthday. 

Ilayaraja has left his imprint on not just Tamil but in Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages. Hence, people cutting across language barriers are celebrating his birthday and thanking him for entertaining them for four decades. On the other hand, netizens have taken Twitter to wish Ilayaraja. Using multiple hashtags, they remember Isaignani's songs on his special day.

Oscar winner, AR Rahman started his career as an assistant to Ilayaraja. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London once performed a symphony crafted by him. Ilayaraja has bagged five National Film Awards so far. Ilayaraja has worked mostly in Tamil and Malayalam films. But Hindi film music lovers, too have sung to his tunes.
