There’s only a few weeks left for Game of Thrones season 7 to premiere but the cast is dealing with the death of one of its cast members. Most fans have loved him, Jon Snow has treated him as a brother and many of his enemies have feared him. We’re talking about Ghost, the dire wolf who has been Jon’s pet since season 7.

George RR Martin, creator of A Song of Ice and Fire book series updated fans of the HBO series with tragic news. The wolf that appears as Ghost in the TV show passed away a few days ago. He tweeted, “In loving memory of the real life Ghost from the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary. He passed this week & he will be missed. R.I.P.”

The wolf who plays Ghost in the TV series belongs to the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary which is supported by the writer and his family. He was called Quigly in real life and was trained by Andrew Simpson, the owner of Instinct Animals for Film.

Earlier, Simpson said that Quiggly was an Arctic wolf and described him as being very sweet. Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow in Game of Thrones definitely seemed very attached to his dire wolf and will no doubt miss him. We still don’t know how Quigly’s death will affect Jon’s story line in season 7 but suffice it to say that fans will never look at Jon and his wolf in the same way again.

Meanwhile, HBO released Game of Thrones season 7 poster and it gives a huge spoilers about how the plot will unfold in season 7. The post includes a side profile of the Night's King, who seems to have eyes only for Jon. When the show's latest installment premieres on July 16 2017, we will finally know what Jon's strategy is.
