Filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta dies at 77, CM Mamta Banerjee expresses condolences

National Award-winning filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta passed away at 77 on Thursday.

One of the most prestigious and veteran filmmakers, Buddhadeb Dasgupta breathed his last on Thursday. The filmmaker was reportedly suffering from kidney ailments for years.

The news of his demise was confirmed by his family, revealing the filmmaker had been undergoing dialysis for some time and was scheduled for a sesson on June 10.

His wife, Sohini Dasgupta, revealed that he passed away in his sleep.

After the tragic demise of the veteran filmmaker, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee offered her condolences to the family.

Taking to her Twitter account, Mamata Banerjee expressed her grief and said that his death comes as a great loss for the film fraternity.
