Bengal government did not give Soumitra Chatterjee the respect he deserved: Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury

Synopsis

Provincial Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury visited Soumitra Chatterjee's house on Wednesday (November 18) morning. After meeting the family members of Soumitra Chatterjee, Adhir Chowdhury came out and said in front of the media, “The state government did not give Soumitra Chatterjee the respect he deserved.”

Provincial Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury visited Soumitra Chatterjee's house on Wednesday (November 18) morning.

Adhir Chowdhury met Soumitra Chatterjee's family members. After the meeting, Chowdhury came out and said in front of the media, “The state government did not give Soumitra Chatterjee the respect he deserved. He has been removed from various posts since 2011. The Mamata Banerjee-led government has given respect to many artists but Soumitra Chatterjee has been deprived.”

“We will build an auditorium in the name of Soumitra Chatterjee to give him his due respect. We will appeal the central government to allocate a chair in the name of Soumitra Chatterjee at Satyajit Ray Film Institution, “he added.

Paulami Basu, daughter of Soumitra Chatterjee, was very happy after hearing Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury's proposal. She said that if the proposal made by Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is implemented, there will be nothing better than it.

At the same time, Paulami Basu also said, "Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also told me about several schemes implementations in the name of Soumitra Chatterjee."
