Akshay Kumar wanted to play Dhoni but director refused

Director Neeraj Pandey and Akshay Kumar's association has come a long way. The duo has together given Bollywood some hard hitting movies of all times like- 'Baby', 'Special 26' etc. In fact, Akshay Kumar is playing the lead role in their upcoming film 'Rustom'. So it was obvious for Akshay Kumar to hope that he would be roped in for Neeraj's next too based on the life of Dhoni.
As per a report when Akshay Kumar heard of Neeraj's plan about making a biopic on Indian skipper MS Dhoni, he immediately expressed his desire to play the lead role. But, to his surprise, the director flatly refused to cast him as Dhoni. Neeraj told him that he does not look like Dhoni and even with make-up he would not be able to look like him.
Akshay had no choice but to agree.
