Akhil, Shriya call off May wedding, end relationship

Nagarjuna's son Akhil Akkineni and fiancee Shriya Bhupal have ended their engagement. It was reportedly Akhil and Shriya's decision and they have ended their relationship. They were supposed to have a destination wedding in Rome

Akhil Akkineni, son of Telugu superstar Nagarjuna and Amala, and Shriya Bhupal, a popular fashion designer and granddaughter of industrialist GVK Reddy, are in no mood to continue their relationship.

Dad Nagarjuna and GVK allegedly even tried to counsel the young couple but to no avail. The duo had been dating for a couple of years before they got engaged in 2016. 

While the reasons are still unclear, according to the Indian Express, one of the invitees claimed that both families got in touch with guests and asked them to cancel their flight tickets and hotel bookings. 

A source claimed, “It was a last minute decision. All was well until last week.” 

Akhil and Shriya were supposed to tie the knot in Rome, Italy amidst the presence of over 700 people. 

Guests included stars from the Telugu and Tamil industries, Bollywood celebs, politicians and business honchos.

Shriya Bhupal is the official costume designer for Filmfare South and a Parsons School of Design graduate. She has worked with many stars like Shriya Saran, Kajal Agarwal and Rakul Preet as well as Bollywood actresses such as Shraddha Kapoor, Radhika Apte and Alia Bhatt.  

Shriya and her family attended Akhil's elder brother Naga Chaitanya's engagement ceremony in January. Naga Chaitanya is engaged to a top Telugu actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
