Shocking! Adoor Gopalakrishnan says he won't spend Rs 10 to watch Baahubali

Adoor Gopalakrishnan claimed that Baahubali is a copy of the 1951 film Pathala Bhairavi The director said "films like Baahubali create a negative impact on society" The SS Rajamouli directorial "has delivered nothing good for the society" 

Veteran Malayalam director Adoor Gopalakrishnan was not impressed by the Baahubali films. He thinks the film should not have gotten a National Award, because it’sends a bad message to both filmmakers and audiences. 

During the recent Manorama News' Conclave Adoor, along with filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, criticised Baahubali, saying that making movies on such big budgets is a crime, considering the millions of people who do not have enough money to make their daily ends meet. The event was also attended by Mollywood stars Fahadh Faasil and Kunchako Boban.

During the event, Adoor also claimed that Baahubali is a copy of the 1951 Telugu-Tamil bilingual Pathala Bhairavi, and that the SS Rajamouli directorial has delivered nothing good for the society. 

"Films like Baahubali create a negative impact on the society, and I will not even spend even Rs 10 for Baahubali. If there is Rs 10 crore, we can make 10 good movies, similarly, with Rs 100 crore, 100 movies can be made," Adoor said.

Adoor had made negative comments on Baahubali earlier as well. During the Gateway LitFest conducted in Mumbai in February this year, he said,  "When Baahubali gets a National Award, it's devastating and sends a bad message to audiences."

Baahubali 2 is undoubtedly a blockbuster at the worldwide box office and is among the highest grossing movies ever made in India.
