Man falls for fake gay dating app scam, trashed and robbed of Rs 81,000

Synopsis

A married man lost his valuables and money after he was trapped by a fake dating app scam. The man was called to a location where he was robbed of his bracelet and rings and also forced to withdraw cash.    

Trying to explore a dating app proved costly for a Pune based private company employee as a gang looted him of valuables and cash by threatening to circulate a video that they made.

The gang received a request from the man through the fake app created by the accused. When he reached the spot, they made a video of him. They asked him to remove his silver bracelet, gold rings and forced him to withdraw cash. They also took his card and ATM pin and later withdrew another Rs 14,000.

As per a report, the man was first called to an isolated spot and from there to a room. Once he went inside, three people barged in, made a video of him, and then robbed him.

The victim was let off with a warning against informing anyone of the incident. Fearing his married life will be impacted, he kept silent, and only told his friend. Based on his friend's insistence he approached police who have registered a case and are looking for the accused.
