T20I world record: Batsman hits fifty, century on same day

Shaheryar Butt has become the first batsman in T20I history to hit a hundred and fifty on the same day. Here is how he did it

Walferdange (Luxembourg): A batsman has created history by scoring a century and a fifty in a single day in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) on Saturday (August 29).

This world record in T20I history was created by Belgium captain Shaheryar Butt in Walferdange, Luxembourg.

First, he scored 81 not out off 45 balls with four fours and seven sixes against Luxembourg in the ongoing Luxembourg Twenty20 Tri-Series. Thanks to Butt’s knock, Luxembourg won by 37 runs.

Again on August 29, Butt struck 125 not out off 50 balls (11 fours and nine sixes) against Czech Republic. Belgium won by 46 runs.

The 38-year-old Butt, who was born in Gujranwala, Pakistan, has so far played five T20Is. He averages 132 in the shortest format of the game. The right-handed batsman made his T20I debut last year.

Earlier, Afghanistan’s Mohammad Shahzad had hit two fifties on the same day in T20I history.
