India’s tour of Australia 2020-21: Sanjay Manjrekar to return to commentary box

Synopsis

Former Indian player and now a commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar will be seen in the commentary panel during India’s tour to Australia. The former didn’t feature in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), held this year in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Sanjay Manjrekar, a cricketer turned commentator, who has been doing commentary for quite a while now, will again hit the commentary box during India’s tour to Australia. He confirmed the same on Saturday.

He told IANS that he had been included in the commentary panel for the upcoming tour Down Under. The tour will commence from November 27 and culminate on January 19. The series comprises of four Tests, three ODI’s and three T20s.

BCCI had dropped Manjrekar for the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he quite diligently followed the tournament and even tweeted on the players and matches. He was dropped following his unpleasant remarks on Ravindra Jadeja, where he called him "bits-and-pieces player" during the 2019 ICC World Cup, to which Jadeja replied him best with his performance on the field.

However, later in an interview with MoneyControl, he reiterated, "In the case of 'bits and pieces', people thought it was the degradation of a player. So, if I would have said ‘non-specialist’, then I don’t think there would have had been a furore.”

As good sense prevails, Manjrekar will now again be seen in the commentary box during the 70-day India’s tour Down Under.
