West Indies cricketer Kieron Pollard became the first cricketer to play 500 T20 matches. His 500th match was against Sri Lanka on March 4

The powerful right-hand batsman from West Indies, Kieron Pollard, has become the world’s first cricketer to play 500 T20 matches.

The first T20 match against Sri Lanka in Pallekele that was played yesterday, saw West Indies amass a total of 194 runs which also includes skipper Pollard's knock of 34 runs in 15 balls. The stadium also witnessed Pollard's crossing the 10,000-run mark in his T20 career.

Interestingly, Dwayne Bravo, another teammate who is second in the list of this limited-overs cricket match format, has played over 450 T20 matches.

The Caribbean side bundled out Sri Lanka for 171 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series

Kieron Pollard is the power hitter and his known for his ability to destroy bowlers and put the ball over the boundary with ease. Over the years, Pollard has proved to be an asset to the Mumbai Indians team with the ball and the bat.

He has been able to guide his side to victory on many occasions and is one of the top batsmen in the IPL.
