IPL 2020: Here’s what Ricky Ponting has to say on Rohit Sharma’s current form

Synopsis

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting praised Rohit Sharma for his batting skills. He says that Rohit is a consistent performer, who has proven himself in big matches.

‘The Hitman’, Rohit Sharma, has been the soul for Mumbai Indians (MI), giving terrific performances consistently. Because of this consistency, Rohit Sharma is not just a star performer for Mumbai but also their leading run-scorer. The Indian vice-captain has proven his worth in big matches and received laurels for hitting five tons in the ICC World Cup last year.

Former MI coach Ricky Ponting has all the applause for the power hitter. Ponting, who transferred MI captaincy to Rohit Sharma in 2013, lauded Rohit and termed him as MI’s most dangerous player, in a conversation with cricket.com.au.

With Rohit winning four IPL trophies for MI and being a batsman who scores tons of runs, Ponting said that Rohit is at his best right now.

“Mumbai Indians dangerman for the season. Rohit Sharma, their captain. One of the premier T20 batsmen in the world. He has got an outstanding record, whether it be international cricket or in IPL. He’s probably in his career-best form right now, it’s pretty hard to go past him.”

The appreciation was not just one-sided. Even Rohit Sharma has held high esteem, not just as the former MI player, but also as their coach.
