Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21: India confirms travel to Brisbane for final Test

India and Australia have an intimidating task at hand, as they clash for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in a four-Test series. The final Test would be held in Brisbane. While the Test in the city was in doubt due to rigid quarantine, India has confirmed it would now travel for the same.

The third Test between India and Australia has been the most intense one between the two to date. Meanwhile, the attention would move to Brisbane for the final Test, to be played from Friday.

The Test was earlier in doubt, as Queensland has placed strict lockdown measures, besides imposing rigid 15-day quarantine for the ones arriving, mainly from Sydney. It is all due to a fresh COVID outbreak in the state of New South Wales.

Owing to the same, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had reportedly denied travelling to Brisbane for the very Test, as Cricket Australia was contemplating hosting the same Test in Sydney as well. CA had also apparently booked the hotels in both the cities during this period.

Nonetheless, a new report from the Sydney Morning Herald confirms that India has agreed to travel to Brisbane for the final Test. The Indians would be singled out from the supposed rigid quarantine, and could also leave for home, immediately following the conclusion of the Test.

Nick Hockley, CEO of CA, told SEN Radio, "The fourth Test will be at the Gabba, as planned. I had a call last night from the BCCI secretary [Jay Shah] and he confirmed we are good to travel to Brisbane on Tuesday.
On the basis of yesterday's discussions, we are full steam ahead to play the fourth Test at the Gabba."

However, as per the Queensland government's norms, the teams would be confined to their hotels and barred from leaving it, except for match-time. "Both the Australian and the Indian cricketers, because they've been in the hotspot of Sydney, need to quarantine when they come to Queensland," said Jeannette Young, Chief Health Officer of Queensland.
