A Junior Commissioned Officer and a soldier have been critically injured during a counter-terrorist operation in the Nar Khas forest area of Mendhar sub-division in Poonch district.

Indian Army confirmed that two of its personnel had been critically injured.

The encounter spot is near the Dehra Ki Gali area where five soldiers were killed while taking on terrorists on Monday.

The encounter is still ongoing, the Indian Army spokesman confirmed.

This is the same group of terrorists who were involved in Monday's encounter, sources said, adding that the security personnel re-established contact with the terrorists this evening.

This group of terrorists has reportedly been hiding in the forest area for the last three months.

Sources said that the terrorists had infiltrated the LoC in August. They were looking to reach Shopian but were cornered in the Pangai area. Two terrorists were eliminated between August 6 and August 19.
