'High Command to take final decision' after Punjab Congress passes 2 resolutions

The Punjab Congress on Saturday unanimously passed two resolutions and sent them to party high command in Delhi. After an essential meeting of Congress Legislative Party, AICC in-charge of Punjab Harish Rawat said no decision had been taken on the name of CLP leader as a final call to be taken by the party's top leadership. The first resolution expressed gratitude to Amarinder Singh for his service. The second gave Congress President Sonia Gandhi the power to pick the next leader of the Congress Legislative Party, who would subsequently become the Chief Minister.

Addressing the media, Rawat said they had sent two resolutions to party high command passed in Congress Legislative Party today. They are waiting for the party high command's decision. Appreciating Captain Amarinder Singh, Rawat said he had worked efficiently. Ajay Maken, who was present as the Congress observer, said there was no discussion on the name and 78 MLAs out of 80 were present during the meeting.

The meeting comes minutes after Amarinder Singh resigned as the chief minister of Punjab amid the power tussle ahead of the state elections. Addressing the press, Amarinder Singh said he felt humiliated by the way talks transpired. He informed that he spoke with the Congress president and told them that he would be resigning today. He said it had happened for the third time. 

He added that he is in the Congress party and would consult his supporters and decide the future course of actions. Informing the new chief minister, Singh asserted that the party high command could make whoever they have faith in.
