EC issues FIR against E Palaniswami TTV Dinakaran

The Election Commission today issued FIRs against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami, TTV Dinakaran, and others in RK Nagar by poll bribery case. It was said that RK Nagar by-election would happen on 12th of April. During the campaign, the voters were given money, despite the surveillance of election commission officials. Subsequently, the Election Commission cancelled the by-election.

Hence the Election Commission has ordered FIRs against Chief Minister E Palaniswami, four Ministers and TTV Dinakaran, who contested as the candidate in RK Nagar by-election. The poll panel's decision came after an RTI was registered seeking to know what was done in the bribery case.

Based on the documents seized during the Income Tax Department's raids on Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar's properties properties, it was found that around Rs 90 crore was set aside by the AIADMK to be distributed among the voters. Sasikala's nephew and jailed general secretary of AIADMK- TTV Dinakaran was contesting from RK Nagar Assembly constituency. The bypoll was announced after the death of J Jayalalithaa who represented the constituency.
