'Random' couple pulls off royal stunt in Mysore palace

In a video that has surfaced on social media outlets, a soon-to-be-wed couple is seen posing hand-in-hand in the picturesque Durbar Hall and Ambavilasa inside the Mysore palace.

While undoubtedly romantic, the video has angered the Palace Board as the entry to this portion of the palace is restricted for 'security reasons'.

So far, even the royal family has not publicly released photographs of these parts of the palace. For example, though the palace will soon be decked out for the wedding of heir-to-the-throne Yaduveer Krishnadatta Wadiyar with Trishika Singh, even that couple has not had the privilege of being photographed in that stunning corner of the palace.

Reportedly the video annoyed queen Pramoda Devi so much, that she demanded to know how a 'random couple' was allowed to shoot within these areas of the palace.

The 1975 Dr Rajkumar-starrer Mayura was the last film to be given permission to shoot within the palace. However, even superstar Rajinikanth was refused permission to film within these portions of the palace. He was asked to do the required filming for his last film Linga outside the no-go zone.

So the big question is, how did 'commoners' gain entry to a place forbidden even to Rajinikanth? An investigation is on. The Palace Board is questioning security personnel before taking any 'serious steps'.

If the couple, and the photographer, are found guilty, they will have to face serious consequences for trespassing on a private property of historical importance.

The video has also received flak on social media. Fearing that this would set a wrong precedent, many have reacted negatively, claiming that such incidents would demean the grandeur of the palace.

After the controversy, the original video has been removed from Facebook.
