Air Marshal VR Chaudhari to be new Indian Air Force chief

Air Marshal VR Chaudhari will be the next Indian Air Force chief.

Air Marshal Chaudhari, who is currently holding the charge of IAF’s vice chief will replace Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria, who is set to retire on September 30.

Air Marshal Chaudhari will take over charge on October 1.

Confirming the development, the defence ministry informed in a post on Twitter that the government had decided to appoint Air Marshal V R Chaudhari as the next Chief of Air Staff. 

Commissioned into the Indian Air Force's fighter stream in 1982, Air Marshal Chaudhari has held various Staff, Instructional and Command appointments.

Air Marshal Chaudhari has also been decorated with military honours, including the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Vayu Sena Medal.

An alumnus of the National Defence Academy and the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Air Marshal Chaudhari was Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Air Command prior to his present appointment.
