Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday said that the government would soon institutionalise a 24-hour "helpline" for assistance to exporters and resolution of issues.

Piyush Goyal while launching National Vanijya Saptah at Noida Special Economic Zone said that during the start of Covid-19 the government had launched a 24 x7 helpline for traders. But now we feel that to address the issues of exporters it needs to roll out a similar 24x7 helpline. It will escalate issues of exporters to a higher level if required, he said. The government will come out with the helpline number soon.

Goyal said that our objective is to make ‘Brand India’ a representative of quality, productivity, talent, and innovation during the launch of Vanijya Saptah to commemorate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The Commerce and Industry Ministry from today launched a 7-day special event in India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations.

According to a government press release, Goyal said there was a need to jointly create a roadmap for the next 25 years and contribute to make India a world leader.

The minister said reforms in social sectors had made the nation’s development wholesome. “Path-breaking expansion of health programmes, toilets infrastructure have been a major success and made the development inclusive.”

“Availability of electricity and cooking gas to households have made an extraordinary impact on the lives of crores of citizens of the country, who never had those benefits before,” he added.

PM Modi’s call for ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ is a tribute to our freedom fighters and freedom movement and it is an opportunity for us to inspire and reignite new fervour, exuberance and enthusiasm, Goyal said.

Goyal further added that because of PM Narendra Modi's leadership, our economy is reviving and exports are increasing significantly, despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows are highest and industry is on a high growth path. He said that FDI has increased by 10 per cent to $ 81.72 bn from $ 74.39 bn (2019-20) and highest ever merchandise exports have been recorded in a quarter (Q1 2021-22, $ 95 bn)," Goyal further said.
