The Election Commission has appointed actor Rajkummar as its national icon ahead of the upcoming polls. A formal ceremony to mark this occasion is scheduled for Thursday (Oct 26).
The Election Commission has announced that actor Rajkummar Rao would serve as its national symbol ahead of assembly elections in five states.
The Election Commission of India declared earlier this month that more than 161 million people in five states across India will vote in assembly elections next month.
The Election Commission said that Mizoram would vote on November 7. Madhya Pradesh and Telangana will hold elections on November 17 and 30, respectively.
While Rajasthan, set to vote on November 23, will vote on November 25 instead. The ballots will be counted on December 3.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar also said the polls in these states hold significance because they will act as the final assembly elections before the general elections.
