How much gold jewellery can Indians keep at home?

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has state guidelines for keeping gold jewellery at home. 

In India, there is no legal limit on storing gold at home, as long as it was earned from a lawful revenue source and the source can be explained.

There are restrictions to how much gold jewelry can be stored at home without showing verification.

The limits are 500 grams for married women.

250 grams for unmarried women.
