13 camels being smuggled for slaughtering during Eid rescued

Based on a tip, the animal rights activist and animal husbandry department officials together raided different parts of Bengaluru and rescued camels that were brought from Rajasthan for slaughtering during Eid.

It is said 13 camels were smuggled into state via borders and housed at slums.

Once rescued, the animals were taken to gaushala at Mahadevpura in Bengaluru.

Out of the 13 rescued animals from different areas, two have died and the cause of death is yet to be known.

The officials and activist believe that some more animals maybe kept in hidden places and would be slaughtered. Hence are making efforts to find and save them.

Meanwhile, all the 11 rescued animals seem to be in good health. The officials now will have to inform Rajasthan and ensure the animals are safely transported back to their original habitat.

The animals are found in places like Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

As per rules, slaughtering of camels is banned in India.
