Lack of lights makes Bengaluru streets crime-friendly; Techie mugged near EGL

BBMP and BESCOM’s failure in putting up electric poles for streetlights from Srinivagilu-Ejipura junction to Domlur has resulted in a techie being mugged. The area near EGL where thousands of people are employed has become a hunting ground for miscreants.

Bengaluru: Bike-borne thieves have made Bengaluru’s Koramangala area a hunting ground. On September 6, Edward, a techie working in Embassy Golf Link campus, was mugged by two bike-borne miscreants.

According to the victim, the miscreants who were on a Honda Activa bike slapped him when he was on phone near a military campus on Domlur Ring Road.

The victim mustered the courage and gave chase and managed to catch one on the miscreants.

To his luck, Vivek Nagar Police Station constables who were on patrol came to his aid and captured the accused.

Residents from surrounding areas feel that incidents like these occur as the area is not well lit and thick bushes on either side of roads and on the median make for good hideout spots and hunting grounds for miscreants.
