Bengaluru: YN Arun, a soldier from the Madras Engineering Group (MEG), Bengaluru, was diagnosed with a tumour in the spinal cord. As several doctors refused to perform surgery on the 35-year-old fearing that it would paralyse him, the patient later received treatment from Sagar Hospital where Dr Murali Mohan successfully operated upon Arun on Monday (August 12), giving the soldier a chance to salute the national flag on Independence Day.
