All Saints’ Church members warn of dragging BMRCL to court to stop felling of trees in premises

Members of All Saints’ Church, from children to the aged assembled at the church on Friday to mark the 100th-day of protest of the BMRCL officials’ move to take over a portion of its land. According to protesters, BMRCL has sought another 40,000 square feet for its underground tunnel project.

Members of the 150-year-old heritage All Saints’ Church gathered at the church premises demanding Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to drop its plan of taking up 40,000 square feet of land. The members say that the church had earlier given up 2 acres for BWSSB to set up a groundwater reservoir and alleged that while BMRCL has already taken up 39,000sqft of land, authorities have now asked for more. Members have also said that they are not interested in seeking any compensation and are unwilling to compromise on the heritage land that they worship on and the nature that surrounds it.

Members have warned of taking the matter to court, seeking a change in the proposed metro route in the area.
