Amaravati: High drama in front of the Assembly ensued following Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led Cabinet clearing the proposal for three capitals. Led by former AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, TDP leaders staged a protest and tried to lay siege to Jagan’s convoy at midnight. Soon, the TDP leaders were taken into custody by police and taken to Mangalagiri Police Station when Chandrababu Naidu tried to take on a march from the Assembly to villages in the capital region.

Earlier, during the session, former CM Chandrababu Naidu requested AP CM YS Jagan not to split the capital city stating that no development will take place and is an unwanted and unwarranted exercise. Naidu was seen folding his hands and requesting the CM to take back his decision of decentralising the capital.

The chief minister left about 45 minutes after the TDP leaders were detained.
