Senior transport corporation officer harasses driver, asks him not to enter office premises

The bus driver, who had come for duty during coronavirus pandemic, was mentally harassed by duty manager as he was asked to stay away from bus depot premises. As a result, the bus drivers and conductors assembled and protested, prompting the higher official to take the duty manager to task.

Appearing for duty during tough times like COVID-19 needs to be appreciated, but in the case of drivers and conductors attached to  North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC), they are harassed.

The drivers and conductors alleged that duty manager Basappa Pujar harassed a driver by asking him not to enter the depot premises and for past few days, he made the driver sit idle without giving any work.

Following the protest staged by drivers and conductors, a senior official arrived at Mulugund Naka division and took the duty manager to task.

A driver on the condition of anonymity said, the duty manager always looks down on drivers and conductors. He allegedly threatened to get them transferred as he is very apparently close to transport minister Laxman Savadi.
