One of the 40 CRPF personnel killed in the Pulwama attack was Manidar Singh Atri of Dinanagar town of Gurdaspur, Punjab. His supreme sacrifice for the country was revered but the miseries of his families continue to this day. Manidar’s father Satpal Singh Atri’s love for the country had him get his two sons admitted to CRPF. Manidar’s brother Lakhvish Singh Atri was also a CRPF jawan but until life took a drastic turn on February 14, 2019. Manidar’s father had appealed to the Punjab government to release his son Lakhvish from his CRPF duties and grant him a civil job in Punjab so that he can earn for the family as well as look after his old father. The Punjab government representatives had made false promises, trusting which Lakhvish quit his CRPF job. However, the former jawan is yet to find a job in Punjab government and has been running from pillar to post for the same.
