Post Delhi violence, Karnataka on high alert: Home minister Bommai

Bengaluru: Following Delhi violence that has claimed 7 lives including a head constable after clashes between pro and anti-CAA supporters, Karnataka home minister Basavaraj Bommai said that he has asked the police to be on alert.

Basavaraj Bommai said that there was a high-level meeting held in which details of the organisers, supporters' background, people who attended are being collated and monitored.

"I have told my officers to be on high alert and take preventive measures rather than taking action after any untoward incident," said Bommai.

In Karnataka, Bilal Bagh in Bengaluru East is turning out to be another Shaheen Bagh where women are on a sit-in protest against CAA and NRC.

The protest is being attended by a host of politicians and many activists.

Recently, an anti-CAA protest was organised at Freedom Park in Bengaluru . However, the protest courted controversy following Amulya Leona's "Pakistan zindabad" slogan.

While the 19-year-old girl has been booked under sedition charges, the BJP wants even the organiser to be booked as they think he is the one who is responsible for this.
