The 40-day-old baby that was rushed with severe heart complication has undergone a successful five-hour long surgery and in next five days the baby which is off the ventilator, will be discharged.

According to Dr CN Manjunath, director of Jayadeva Hospitals, the baby being 40 days old and with a rare condition of pulmonary veins connected to heart from the right side instead of left was very challenging.

However the team of doctors headed by Dr Jayanth Kumar pulled off a miracle through this risky operation.

The parents have been asked to get a weekly consultation with a pediatric expert near their house in Mangaluru and return for a follow up after three months. "The baby is off the ventilator and is doing fine and we have given very less antibiotics for few days. The baby is feeding on its own," said Dr CN Manjunath.
