Kerala: Forensic report says secretariat fire was not caused by short circuit

Forensic experts prepared a report after examining 24 items in the General Administration Department where the fire broke out

Thiruvananthapuram: A new twist occurred in the Kerala secretariat fire case. Earlier it was alleged that the fire at secretariat occurred due to a short circuit. However, a forensic report dismissed the claim of a short circuit as the reason for the blaze.

The report submitted by forensic experts to the judicial magistrate court claimed that the evidence collected from the office does not prove that the short circuit caused the fire.

The fire occurred in the secretariat’s protocol department which is at the North Sandwich Block on August 25. According to sources, many files and computers were destroyed in the fire.  It is to be noted that the protocol department is the section that is investigating the high-profile gold smuggling case.
