Government ration shop's shoddy service exposed, sand mixed wheat given to beneficiaries

In a shameful incident, a government-run ration shop was caught giving sand mixed with cheap quality wheat to BPL card beneficiaries.

The government of Karnataka had announced that due to lockdown, employment crisis and financial constraints, it will give more ration to BPL card holders, however, in most ration shops the stock supplied is either limited or of poor quality. As evident now, sand mixed with cheap quality wheat was being served at the Tiptur government shop in Tumakuru.

Immediately after the video of cheap quality ration went viral, and also protest by locals for such a service, the authorities took back the ration and also appealed to other beneficiaries to return the ration and wait for new stock.
