Forget COVID-19, infection due to overflowing sewage in Bengaluru raises concern

The coronavirus scare is overshadowed by overflowing sewage in LBS Nagar, Bengaluru, as residents fear being exposed to water-borne diseases. Despite complaints, neither the apartment owners nor representatives from the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) worker or Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) have come forward.

More than coronavirus infection, water-borne diseases like cholera, gastroenteritis seem to be haunting residents of LBS Nagar in Bengaluru.

Sewage overflowing onto the roads is left unattended for the last few years.

Residents blame the apartment owners for letting sewage flow into storm water drains instead of connecting their sewer lines to drainages.

Despite complaints, neither the apartment owners nor corporation officials and public representatives have come forward to address the issue.
