Drastic drop in devotees visiting Kartarpur Sahib shrine in Pakistan; here's why

Two major reasons for drop in devotees crossing the Kartarpur Corridor are making passport mandatory and entry fee being levied by Pakistan

Kartarpur: The number of devotees visiting the Kartarpur Sahib shrine in Pakistan has dropped considerably. Statistics claim in one month (from November 9 to December 9) only 18,189 devotees have visited the Kartarpur Sahib shrine in Pakistan, whereas authorities had expected the  number to cross at least 1 lakh. When Newsable spoke to devotees, two major reasons were cited as the reason for the drop in the visit of devotees. The first reason was making passport compulsory and devotees said that if national ID including Aadhaar card or PAN card was considered that would have made more people opt to cross Kartarpur Corridor to go to Pakistan. The second reason was the fee charged by Pakistan to enter the country's side of Kartarpur.
