Bengaluru buses to help construction workers, who are given free passes worth Rs 12,600 crore

It seems Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) with its fleet of over 6,000 buses, will now give free bus pass to construction workers and labourers registered at the construction board. The initiative is the brainchild of BMTC MD C Shikha, which will help over 70,000 construction workers.
 


After driving the Volvo to send a message about empowering women, now, C Shikha, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) MD, has announced that the construction workers will get a free bus pass to travel anywhere in Bengaluru and its outskirts.

The initiative will cost Rs 12,600 crore annually which will be borne by Karnataka Construction Board.

As per the BMTC, the recently-launched initiative in which its officials will reach out to metro construction sites, Public Works Department, BESCOM and other agencies which engage construction workers and daily wage labourers, so that they will be provided with a free bus pass.
