BBMP puts huge mirror to prevent people urinating on walls; public sidesteps initiative

In an attempt to stop people from urinating on walls, the BBMP installed a huge mirror that contains information about public toilets nearby and appeals to people to not dirty the place.

With frequent complaints of public urinating on walls and other public places, to tackle this menace, BBMP has now put up a huge mirror on walls to shame the public. However, within 50 meters of the installed mirror, people are found relieving themselves.

According to BBMP, on a pilot basis, five places; Indiranagar ESI Hospital Compound wall, KR Market, Indian Express Circle, Jyoti Nivas College Street and Church Street near Coconut Grove bears huge mirrors, which has come at a cost of Rs 50,000.

"The mirror is unbreakable and can be moved to other locations. The idea was to shame the public who dirty the walls. It also has information stored through QR codes about where to find the nearby public toilets," said BH Anil Kumar, BBMP commissioner.
