Another BJP leader joins the ‘shoot the anti-national’ chorus

Another BJP leader has joined the “shoot the anti-national” chorus and said they will not be taken to police. Former union minister Basanagouda Patil Yatnal made the remark while speaking to media in Vijayapura, Karnataka.

Vijayapura: On the background of people screaming ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans and Facebook posts encouraging “anti-national” activity, former union minister and Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal has said that anti-nationals should be shot dead.

Yatnal, who was speaking to reporters, said the words in reference to those who praise Pakistan, raise slogans in support of Pakistan and those who indulge in “anti-national” activity, “Henceforth if such things happen, they will face only bullets. They will not be sent to jail," he said.

Yatnal, who is known for his sharp criticism, said, once they are shot dead, they will be sent to 'Jannat'. It is quite evident that he was referring to a particular community.

He had earlier said that a particular community that does not vote for the BJP and him should not come to his office seeking any favour or help from the government.

The leader is not one to hold back with his words, be it against the party or MPs. This was evident when Karnataka did not receive adequate relief after the floods last year.

Recently, his supporters took to the streets demanding that he get the home minister’s post in the Karnataka Cabinet. His supporters have said that to take on “anti-nationals”, a person like Yatnal should be made home minister.
