28 teams of civic body in Bengaluru battle weak trees, dangerous branches during monsoon

As weakened trees and its branches pose danger and are prone to come crashing down during the rains, the civic body BBMP has deployed a team to cut dead trees and prune branches. So far, since June, about 500 weakened trees and branches have been cleared.

As dangerous trees and dead branches pose danger to life, the BBMP's forest department seems to be ready with 28 teams in each ward to identify and clear such trees.

Since there were rains over the last few weeks, many trees and branches had created havoc in the city, the deputy conservator of forests deployed 28 teams each consisting 8 members, who are in the process of identifying such trees and clearing them.

The BBMP says after creating a dedicated app called Sahaya, the public have been able to help identify such trees and teams have been able to attend to such complaints on time and avoid major incidents during gusty winds and rains.
