COVID-19: Transgenders roped in to shame lockdown violators

As motorists and vehicle users refuse to budge and follow lockdown rules, Koppal District Police took the help of the transgender community to teach the violators a lesson.

Next time people dare to take bikes and cars on to the streets of Koppal, they will be shamed by police. Police will not use lathis or book cases but will shame people with the help of a transgender person.

Looking for ways to ensure people fall in line and follow lockdown rules, Koppal police in North Karnataka hit upon this idea.

They took help from the transgender community, who came up with idea of tying rakhis bearing lines that state, "You stay at home, we will fight Coronavirus and win". Members of the transgender community also took aarathis and put tilak on violators at signals and check posts, while shaming them.
