COVID-19: Moulvi bashed up by public for defying lockdown

With the first coronavirus suspect being reported from Bagalkot, Karnataka, the district is gripped by fear, a Moulvi defied the lockdown and opened the Masjid only to get beaten up by the public.

The incident was reported from Kadakoppa village in Bagalkot, North Karnataka, yesterday.

Villagers pleaded with the community members requesting them not to visit the Masjid as the government has ordered complete lockdown as the virus may spread in mass gatherings.

Despite the rules, about 10 people gathered and offered prayers.
