COVID-19: Gram Panchayat officials take lathis, join police to enforce lockdown

To lessen the burden on the police, the Gram Panchayat officials of Belavatti in Shirhatti Taluk in North Karnataka are guarding against those citizens venturing out unnecessarily defying coronavirus lockdown orders.
 
The Gram Panchayat members and the president are seen helping the police, holding lathis and chasing the public to ensure they stay indoors during this lockdown.
 
The members have informed the district police not to worry about implementation of lockdown orders as they are doing that duty.
 
The members have warned the public stating that if the citizens are found roaming around with no reason during lockdown, they would lathicharge.
