Coronavirus outbreak: Eight fishermen in Tamil Nadu quarantined

Eight fishermen were sent into quarantine though they didn't show any coronavirus symptoms as villagers didn't allow them to enter the region before medical checkup

Rameswaram: The number of positive coronavirus cases went up steeply in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, taking the total tally to 234 cases. All the 110 new active cases were linked to the 3-day Tablighi Jamaat conference at the Markaz Nizamuddin mosque, which was attended by around 1,500 people from the state. Rameswaram district collector K Veera Raghava Rao, on Wednesday, facilitated eight fishermen from Nagapattinam to land ashore off Pamban. He received a call from the fishermen that the locals, apprehensive that they may be carrying COVID-19 virus, were not letting them in. The collector sent a team of officials to help them.
