Case of theft surfaces despite strict police vigil amid coronavirus lockdown in Punjab

The victim was out to buy medicines when two bike-borne assailants snatched her earring and fled from the spot

Amritsar: In a shocking incident, a woman became a victim of earring snatching in Punjab's Amritsar. The victim, identified as Amarjeet Kaur, stepped out of the house around 6 pm to buy medicines, when two bike-borne miscreants snatched her earring and fled from the spot in Sant Chanan Singh Colony on Sultanwind Road in Amritsar, Punjab.

The incident was captured on CCTV installed in the locality.

Amritsar Police reached the scene of the incident and have begun investigating the case.

However, questions are being raised by locals, who asked how a theft could take place when there is a curfew like situation due to the coronavirus lockdown.

After the death of Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa due to coronavirus, the area has been completely sealed off. Locals questioned how the miscreants could flee when there is such strict vigil of police personnel in the area.
