The Union Home Ministry has once again summoned the Chief Secretary and the DGP of West Bengal on an urgent basis. According to sources, the meeting has been scheduled for 5.30 pm today (December 18).
 

The Union Home Ministry has issued an order directing the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to provide a bulletproof car along with Z category security to Kailash Vijayvargiya after the party’s national president JP Nadda’s convoy was attacked at Diamond Harbour in West Bengal.

According to the Centre, the decision on opening of educational institutions has been left to States/UTs as per the Union home ministry's September order, which is valid till November, 2020

CPI(M) district secretary Jibesh Sarkar demanded a permanent solution on the Gorkhaland issue before the polls. He wanted to make sure that the people of the hills are not deceived for votes in the name of Gorkhaland. The Union Home Ministry has sent a letter to the state seeking discussion on the Gorkhaland issue.
 

West Bengal Education minister Partha Chatterjee informed on Tuesday (September 15) that schools and colleges will not open in the state unless the situation returns to normalcy. However, the Union Home ministry instructed that students from classes 9 to 12 can attend school on a voluntary basis from September 21 onwards. As a result, the Centre-State conflict has escalated further during the unlock phase.

The Union home ministry today said in Parliament that no infiltration has been reported along the India-China Border in the last last six months. The response was given by Nityanand Rai, minister of state for Home in the Rajya Sabha. The written response to an unstarred question also listed the infiltration attempts on India’s border with Pakistan.

West Bengal education minister Partha Chatterjee is not supportive of the unlocking of educational institutions amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that the guidelines on education given in the fourth phase of the Union Home Ministry's unlocking phase has not yet reached him. He is not satisfied with the Union Home Ministry's decision to open schools and colleges.
 

The 2,550 foreign nationals will not be allowed to enter India for next 10 years, a news report said quoting MHA officials.
 

Migrant workers, students and others stranded in different parts of the country are allowed to return home by special trains that will be run by the Indian Railways, the Union home ministry said on Friday.
